five gifts from kate

If you’re starting to think about what to select for your gift registry, we have some exciting news… this February kate spade is launching five (yes five) gorgeous new collections!!! They are Illustrated, Bubbly, Sweet Pea, Chelsea Plaza and Grace Avenue and we absolutely love them!

Illustrated is inspired by the artful kate spade New York paper collections, with whimsical watercolors adorning tidbit plates, mugs a footed cake plate and a hors d’oeuvres tray. We think the brightly colored porcelain pieces would be perfect for a kitchen tea, or at a post wedding morning tea thankyou for your bridesmaids. Pictured left: Cocktails Anyone? Tidbit Plate 15cm.

Bubbly features spirited dots and delicate daisies on traditional stemware crystal shapes, with your choice of a pair of champagne saucers or pair of trumpet-shaped flutes, perfect for your wedding day toast.

Sweet Pea has a simple design of softly rounded curves. The modern crystal range offers both posy and hydrangea vases that work equally well in casual and formal settings.

Chelsea Plaza features confetti-inspired spots of varying scale to dress uphome décor pieces. The crystal range includes a large vase, bud vase and bowl each reflecting the classic elegance that is undeniably kate spade.

And finally, Grace Avenue features silver-plated picture frames, toasting flutes and an elegant desse, with a sweet pewter bow inspired by grosgrain ribbon adding a pretty feminine touch to the collection. We think the picture frame would make a perfect bedside keep sake with a special photo of you and your partner on your wedding day. Pictured left: Picture Frame 20 x 25cm, (also available in size 13 x 18cm)

If you just can’t wait to get your hands on them, the new kate spade giftware collections will be available in selected David Jones stores and from leading independent retailers in February. For stockist enquiries call 1300 852 022 or visit www.katespadechina.com.au

Kitchen tea ideas: High Tea

As your wedding day approaches, you’ll probably be planning some way to celebrate your singlehood one last time with your closest friends. For most brides this takes the form of a bridal shower, kitchen tea, hen’s night – or a combination all three!

Usually the organisation of such events falls to the maid of honour and bridesmaids, but if you or they are stuck for ideas – or time – consider attending a fun, feminine event instead of planning a party. One idea we love is getting the girls together for The High Tea Party – a lavish event held in capital cities around Australia throughout the year. Simply purchase your tickets, and you will gain access to an all day event that includes a decadent high tea sitting, complimentary pamper stations, tastings, workshops, parades, and boutique market stall shopping plus a gorgeous gift bag for each guest.

And this year, $5 from every ticket will be donated to The McGrath Foundation, to help fund the work of breast cancer nurses. So by attending, you’ll also me making a big difference in someone’s life!

The event dates are:

Brisbane: 5th-6th of June, the Stamford Plaza
Melbourne: 17th-18th of July, the Winsdor Hotel
Adelaide: 4th of September, the Stamford Grand
Sydney: 8th-9th of October, The Westin
