ZINC’s gold textured walls, rich wooden panelling and aubergine tones add a sense of elegance and sophistication perfectly suited to all types of events. These stylish finishes are complimented by exquisite details such as sheer organza curtaining creating a soft divide separating the arrivals – aperitif area from the dining room and also adds a sense of anticipation once guests are invited to be seated. ZINC offers two large outdoor decks that are excellent spaces for pre dinner drinks shaded by majestic elms and boardered by the river terrace.
ZINC has ample dinner space for up to 450 people for a sit down dinner, with a generous dance floor and separate pre dinner drinks area. Up to 1000 people can be accommodated for a cocktail style event.
Two independent entries and a central operable wall enables the venue to be divided into two studios to comfortably accommodate smaller groups should your event be more intimate.

Leonda by the Yarra has had a makeover!
The drab red brickwork, old arches and tired gardens are gone, making way for a fresh Leonda, with new modern paving, stylish canopies, fully rendered walls, timber decking, crisp lighting and beautifully landscaped gardens. Established in1971 and not renovated for over 30 years, Leonda by the Yarra was in great need of a facelift. A change of ownership in 2006 saw it become a family owned and run business. With this have come many improvements in the look and running of the establishment, and Leonda is now a classy, light filled, modern venue, perfect for any wedding celebration from a classic black tie dinner to a modern cocktail party!
For further information please call Leonda on 03 9819 1933 or visit the website at www.leondabytheyarra.com.au – the transformation pictures are stunning!
High Tea at the QVB
Speaking of tea… Real Weddings founding editor Kirsten MacKelden and our national advertising manager Renee were lucky enough to enjoy high tea at The Team Room QVB in Sydney recently, and they had such a wonderful time – and how could you not, with such glamorous surroundings and delectable treats on offer! Why not bring your maids here for a treat, or even have a high-tea instead of a kitchen tea?
The Tea Room QVB is also a stunning venue for weddings; with its beautiful Victorian architecture and soaring ceilings, it’s the height of glamour! Renovated in 2006, the building features hand-printed Florence Broadhurst wallpaper, Czech crystal chandeliers and antique mirrors. To find out more, visit www.thetearoom.com.au.
Real Wedding: Jennifer and Andrew
Good Afternoon!
Can you guess where today’s Real Wedding took place?
Thailand perhaps? Not quite…
Here’s another clue:
The giraffe may be African, but the backdrop certainly isn’t! That’s right, we’re in Sydney – at Taronga Zoo to be precise. Real couple Andrew and Jennifer were married here in November last year. Having become engaged at Belfast Zoo in Ireland during an amazing round the world trip in 2008, it seemed only fitting that the Sydney-based couple returned home and were married at another zoo!
After a ceremony at the Harbour View Garden Court, Andrew and Jennifer then had photos taken around the zoo grounds before moving into the Harbour View Terrace with its beautiful views across Sydney Harbour. It was the perfect setting for many of the couple’s friends and family who had travelled from overseas to enjoy the celebrations. And then, after the canapes and cocktails, guests also had the opportunity to participate in a series of ‘animal encounters’, where they met Australian natives such as echidnas, and even a diamond python. What fun!
If you love animals, or simply want a picturesque or unusual location for your wedding, head to The Taronga Centre to find out more!
