Dazzle your guests with your beautiful smile thanks to these quick tips

Your wedding day is one of the happiest times of your life. When you walk down the aisle, your radiant smile will be a memorable moment; not just for your husband, but for everyone who shares in your joy.

In the lead up to your wedding day, you’ll be focused on ensuring you look your best. Most brides commit to a health and beauty routine with hair and beauty products to make their skin glow and their hair shine, as well as an exercise routine to ensure they look incredible in their gown.

But there’s one aspect of beauty that is going to last inevitably longer than those other things: your smile. The investment is not just in one day, but the rest of your life.

Many people don’t realize that you don’t have to be born with a beautiful smile, but rather, a natural looking one can be created for you. A smile makeover can transform the way you look and give you more confidence in your appearance.

Whether you choose simply to whiten your teeth, or change the structure of your smile through porcelain veneers, you will be amazed at the transformation.

A talented cosmetic dentist will ensure that the enhancements complement your face as a whole, not just your mouth. The shape of your teeth and your smile can also change the perceived appearance of the face, for instance by slimming a square or rounded face.

Leading cosmetic dentist, Dr Derry Rogers, offers this advice to brides.

  • “Similar to the way you will request to see your wedding photographer’s work before making a decision, ask to see examples of the dentist’s work. How many smile enhancements has he performed? When viewing photographs of the dentist’s previous clients, check that this particular dentist has actually done the work himself and is not showing you a book of highly exceptional results from someone else.

  • Just as you wouldn’t try a new hair colourist two weeks before your wedding, neither should you leave your smile enhancement to the last minute. Allow time to have your new smile created; three to four months before your wedding is ideal to allow you to adjust to your new smile.

  • Just as your gown will require a fitting, so will your teeth. Today’s computer enhancement technology allows you to see on a computer screen what your new smile will look like before making your decision. Professional cosmetic dentists will give you a realistic idea of what results you can expect. If you decide to go ahead,  ‘provisional concept’ veneers will allow you a test run so that you can have input into important things such as colour and shape before your permanent veneers are applied.

  • Making sure you feel comfortable when your dentist explains the procedure is also very important. An experienced dentist will offer you a number of consultations to make sure you are satisfied with the final result.”
Simply asking a few questions before you select a dentist can ensure peace of mind when you have the procedure done.

Your smile has the power to create a lasting first impression and with a gorgeous new smile, your wedding photographer will be able to capture your confidence in photos that last a lifetime.

For brides who want a quick solution on their wedding day, you needn’t look further than your make-up bag. Your colour choice of lipstick on your special day can affect the shade of your teeth. Blue-toned reds or pinks are ideal for making teeth look their whitest white, while nudes and browns are best avoided as they can appear to give teeth a yellowy tinge.
