Annabelle & Andrew's Wedding at Bendooley Estate

Berrima, New South Wales

Annabelle and Andrew hosted a rustic styled wedding in the Southern Highlands. For the reception guests were treated to a reception inside a converted barn that seemed like their own private library.

Annabelle and Andrew felt completely at ease planning their country wedding. “Due to the venue’s availability we only had 6 months to plan the wedding however we worked well under pressure,” Annabelle said. The location was particularly significant for the couple as it was the same region where they were engaged.

Bendooley Estate is home to the Berkelouw Book Barn which houses shelves upon shelves of new, second hand and rare leather-bound books. Annabelle and Andrew were in awe of the unique wedding space that held so much visual excitement for guests. The vast, converted barn boasted cathedral ceilings with exposed timber beams, rustic iron pendant lights and a large stone fireplace.

The design of the wedding focused on neutral colours with accents of rich green. Hessian table runners and Annabelle and Andrew’s wedding favours, small hessian bags filled with sugared almonds, provided an earthy colour influence.

The beauty of nature was brought indoors with foliage entwined around the timber trusses of the ceiling.

Green, blush and cream provided a gentle colour palette and the decorations were in keeping with Annabelle and Andrew’s affinity for rustic styling.

Simple and informal floral arrangements of freesias, roses, lisianthuses, ranunculus, sweet peas, snap dragons and chin chins dotted the tables. The country influence was evident because it seemed as though the flowers had been gathered from the surrounding fields.

The charming 2-tier wedding cake made by Annabelle’s sister was covered with buttercream icing and decorated with small groups of roses. The base layer was chocolate and the top layer was vanilla with passion fruit curd.
