The beauty of nature was brought inside at Carly Sahyoun and Andy Nahas’ wedding. The vast space of the venue was made more intimate with lavish decoration that included an abundance of white blooms and greenery draped across the ceiling.

Gold, black and white formed the colour scheme at Carly and Andy’s wedding reception. Lush greenery and gold design elements created a confident contrast to the venue’s sleek black interior. “We wanted to host an elegantly styled reception with a modern, surprising twist,” Carly said.

“My father is the director of WatervieW so it was very special for Andy and I to celebrate our reception there. WatervieW was built for the purpose of hosting all our family weddings. I felt very incredibly proud.”

Although very familiar with the venue, Carly and Andy were speechless when they walked into their reception, “The decorations were simply breathtaking. I had wanted the flowers to make a statement at our wedding and the finished look definitely fulfilled my vision,” Carly said.

An impressive, 12-metre, gold mirror flower wall was designed and built especially for the wedding. Glinting behind the bridal table, it was decorated with hundreds of orchids and hydrangeas.

At each place setting was a bespoke onyx name card written in gold calligraphy.

The 7-tier wedding cake was also in keeping with the wedding’s modern design. “The cake was detailed to match the colours and materials of my wedding gown and my bridesmaids’ gowns. Each layer was then decorated with phalaenopsis orchids.”

An Ace of Spades Champagne bottle was placed on each table and Columbian roses, phalaenopsis orchids and copious amounts of greenery were featured in the centrepieces. These same blooms were also used in the bridal bouquets.

The wedding stationery featured gold foiling on black card stock. Calligraphy and gold embossed stickers with the couple’s wedding monogram completed the look.

Starting the wedding planning early made the whole experience enjoyable for Carly and Andy. “The only stressful part was working out the seating plan for our 700 guests!” With the help of their event stylist and planner, Carly was able to stay completely relaxed on the day. “I was amazed at how calm I felt from the moment I woke up. Everything was so organized that all I had to do was make the most of every minute.”

Carly and Andy chose the song Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay for their first dance. “We didn’t have a traditional or a choreographed dance we just moved together to the music. It felt like we were alone. It was a beautiful moment.”
