Alila Manggis is situated within the regency of Karangasem, close to the town of Candidasa. Here the local people follow a traditional lifestyle, whether cultivating rice, farming, fishing, weaving baskets and the famous double ikat textiles, or salt making. Various walking tours are available, taking in sights like Mount Agung, home to Bali’s mother temple at Besakih, and the spectacular terraced hillsides.
Other tours can be arranged to see the traditional Bali Aga village of Tenganan, the water palaces of Tirta Gangga and Ujung, the weaving village of Sidemen, the Kerta Gosa Palace of Justice at Klungkung, and various Balinese temples. The waters east of Manggis teem with diverse marine life and are home to seven wondrous dive sites.

The 53 rooms and 2 suites are housed in traditional two-storey thatched Balinese pavilions.
The minimalist rooms, filled with dark wood furnishings, have private terraces. Suites provide living and dining areas. All rooms and suites face the ocean with views across the straits to Nusa Penida. Amenities include beach access and complimentary use of bikes.
The resort provides several places to relax. Seasalt open-air restaurant is situated in a traditional Balinese pavilion on a lotus pond. An inverted pyramid-style pool is set in the gardens, and massages are offered around the pool. Spa Alila is found on the grounds of the Pandan Forest, facing the sea. The Ocean Bar is a cosy al fresco lounge and bar that offers a creative menu.
The resort’s leisure concierge team offers several destination packages that include snorkeling, scenic bike rides, and hiking. There is a free shuttle service to the villages of Tenganan and Candidasa, where the local people follow a traditional lifestyle.
