Royal colours
There is so much talk about the Royal Wedding at the moment, what Catherine will wear, which carriage she will arrive in, who will be there; and we’d like to know what the colour theme will be! A lot of people are tipping a crisp palette of whites and creams with touches of sapphire blue, in reference to the dress Catherine wore when the couple announced their engagement to the world, and of course Lady Diana’s stunning sapphire ring. This inspiration board from Snippet and Ink is titled ‘Something Blue’ and we think it’s a good example of the colours everyone is predicting to see on April 29.

Green inspiration
We hope everyone had a lovely St Patrick’s Day last Thursday (and remembered to wear a touch of green!). We have seen some beautiful green and white weddings over the years here at Real Weddings, and last Thursday prompted many ‘St Patrick’s Day’ themed inspiration boards to pop up all over the web. So we thought we’d share with you one of our own by Real Weddings Creative Director Nicole for an ‘eco green’ themed shoot, and also one of our favourite, truly ‘St Pats Day’ boards, by Bridal Bubbly.

We’d love to hear what you and your partner get up to to celebrate this day of romance, simply ‘like’ us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/RealWeddingsMagazine) and leave a post on our wall – we can’t wait to hear all about it! x
Happy Australia Day

Love it!
Dior – "Secret Garden" gown inspiration
Wondering if it’s possible to introduce the Secret Garden theme to your wedding gown? The Dior collection shown at Paris Fashion Week this week proved that it is! Designer John Galliano actually took his inspiration from a cliff top garden at Villa les Rhumbs, the childhood home of Christian Dior, to create a bold, brightly-coloured collection with full, petal-like skirts and plenty of tulle.

While these colour combinations may be a little bold for your wedding gown, you can certainly take inspiration from the flower-like shapes and rich textures. And it’s certainly possible to introduce a splash of colour to your wedding gown – just look at this beautiful gown.
But you can be bold and still be beautiful…
What do you think about bold colours at a wedding? Do you love them? Hate them? Head over the forum and tell us all about it!

Real Wedding Styling: Black and White
We’re more than a little excited to share today’s Real Wedding Styling feature with you… because there are just so many beautiful details! Black and ivory may be the most commonly used colours for wedding, but when they are used with as much style as they were in Steph and Paul’s wedding, the impact is incredible.
Take for example, this stunning bouquet:
Sharon from Bouquets with Bling had these stunning black calla lilies flown in from New Zealand.
We love how they appear in the beautiful shot below.
Isn’t Steph’s gown stunning?
And we just adored the simple elegance of the couple’s stationery suite (above and below) – sometimes less really is more!
We also love the way the black satin ribbon was carried through to the cake – talk about “tying” in the theme!
Steph’s bridemaids were the reverse of the bride, with their black strapless dresses and white calla lilies – isn’t the effect striking?

White Style
The New Years celebrations may be over, but the celebration inspiration won’t be stopping anytime soon here at the Real Weddings blog
If you’re a new reader of the blog, welcome! We hope you’re inspired by the ideas, images and tips we’ll be sharing here everyday.
Today we thought we’d share some of the beautiful white table settings from our Summer 2009 issue. There are so many events to host in the lead up to your wedding and afterward – engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, thank you dinners, catch ups with your bridal party, and general entertaining in your new home – and we thought these might give you some styling inspiration.

We wanted to drop you a little note to let you know that there’s now just seven days until the Real Weddings Summer 2009 issue hits the stands! And what better way to do it than showing you some beautiful stationery you could write those all important wedding notices (invitations, save the dates, thank yous) on!

A touch of purple!
We’ve been busy telling you about all the gorgeous white inspiration in our summer issue – The White Issue – but we thought we’d give you a little surprise and show you some pictures from two amazing purple themed weddings we featured. Bet you didn’t see that coming!

Real Bride Christie (left) dressed her bridesmaids in vivid purple; while Tiur’s bridesmaids (right) wore lavender gowns featuring exquisite beading.
Purple is such a striking colour, and with so many purple flowers available, you can create truly stunning bouquets. In Issue 11 we featured a beautiful purple styling feature, which included the bouquets below.

And because we know how much you love to be inspired, here are two purple inspiration boards created by our clever friend Kathryn at Snippet and Ink.
