Her fun and often quirky handbags are coveted by women the world over, but the creations of Kate Spade have grown far beyond beautiful arm candy.
Kate's fashion fascination began at Manhattan's Mademoiselle magazine in the late 80's, where she worked her way up the ranks to become the senior fashion editor and head of accessories before her departure in 1991. She then set out to design the sleek, utilitarian handbag she'd been craving for years but could never find, launching Kate Spade handbags in 1993, and opening her first store in New York's SoHo district in 1996. The popularity of her designs grew immensely, and in 1998 the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America named her Best Accessory Designer of the Year.
Kate's trademark wit and playful sophistication now feature in an incredible array of products, from bags, clothing, totes and jewellery, to shoes, stationery, eyewear, and baby products. But it is her beautiful range of homewares that most engages brides. With three dinnerware collections, four crystalware collections and two silver-plated giftware collections, the Kate Spade homewares range has something to suit every home and style.
