McLaren Vale is an internationally known wine growing region with wineries centred around Old Reynella, McLaren Vale, McLaren Flat, Willunga and Aldinga. There are about 74 cellar doors and over 160 vineyards in the region which is best known for its dry red wines, especially those made from Shiraz. The McLaren Vale region is recognized for its Mediterranean beauty, and its beaches attract both locals and visitors.

In addition to a huge selection of food and wines, there are many wedding venues located throughout the region. Working wineries and farms open their doors to couples and allow them to share their property for a day. Beautifully decorated function centres provide an alluring backdrop for festivities, and attractive lawn areas provide space for marquee-style weddings.

After the wedding, couples and their guests can enjoy area attractions. It’s easy to visit cellar doors and enjoy wine tasting events. In addition, Stump Hill Gallery at the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Visitor Information Centre showcases artwork by area artists.

Day spas are relaxing while time spent at nearby Moana Beach, Maslin Beach, or Aldinga Beach is fun in the sun. Gemmel Tassie Reserve has extensive parklands and boasts an impressive grove of large olive trees. It’s a great place to enjoy the almond blossoms, barbeque cooking, or a picnic.

Sunday afternoons are fun at Dave Clark & the Singing Gallery. Visitors clap to the sounds of a folk or blues band playing in the garden. Everyone enjoys food and drinks as well as the unique converted church that is now home to the music centre.
