Rustic Meets Modern Industrial Charm
In the heart of Main Street Gembrook, just an hour southeast of Melbourne’s CBD, a humble doorway unveils a spacious dining haven. Inside, an open kitchen resonates with the rhythm of tango melodies.
This heritage-listed building, once a motor garage, has been transformed by Gordon & Henry Architecture into a retro-industrial oasis. Here, chef-patron Mauro Callegari crafts modern Argentinian cuisine, reflecting his Argentinian, French, and Italian heritage. Much of the menu celebrates produce from nearby growers and suppliers.
The beverage list features local, Argentinian, and global wines, while a charming garden courtyard invites guests to savor tapas and cocktails, complete with a play area for children. The front windows frame a timeless view of J.A.C Russell Park and Puffing Billy’s Gembrook Railway platform.
Adorning the walls are the latest artworks by Mauro’s father, Jose Callegari, alongside pieces from Gembrook artists Sue Jarvis and John Krzywokulski. This melding of architecture, art, culinary mastery, and fine wines creates an unparalleled experience within the restaurant's contemporary ambiance.
