Taryn Leibowitz and Barry Glick work in design and décor, and their wedding was always destined to have that wow factor. A self-confessed romantic, Taryn admits that she began planning their big day long before Barry proposed over lunch in the Hunter Valley.

Shortly after their engagement, Taryn enlisted an artist friend to custom-make ten oversized hearts out of muslin, wire and fairy lights. The unique and whimsical creations were later suspended from the roof of the reception marquee erected on the lawns of the Sydney College of the Arts. “They floated organically above the white dance floor like clouds in the sky. It was magical,” Taryn said.

Long tables with randomly placed white pillar candles and other touches of “old mixed with the new” added to the ethereal mood. Rustic vegetables sprouted from an eclectic mix of glass jars and a magnificent buffet, provided by leading Sydney caterer, Katering, showcased the couple’s favourite Mediterranean food.

Barry was clearly spellbound by his gorgeous bride as the couple danced beneath the floating hearts while guests created their own love song using raw timber musical instruments. “It felt like it was just the two of us floating around the dance floor, and the smile from ear to ear that never left my husband’s face was the highlight for me,” Taryn said. “I, too, couldn’t wipe the grin off mine; everyone says it’s the best day of your life, and I can honestly say it was.”
