Anthony Minichiello pulled out all stops when he proposed to shoe designer Terry Biviano in Mexico. A picnic blanket beside a crackling fire-pit on a secluded stretch of beach was surrounded by hundreds of candles, and dinner with a bottle of vintage champagne awaited.
There was even a telescope on stand-by for some star spotting, but Terry’s wish had already come true, when Anthony got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. “It was a moment of surprise, happiness, laughter and tears. We sat there for hours in each others arms enjoying the moment,” she said.
The following months flew by in a blur of rubgy league commitments, shoe collections, television production schedules, overseas bachelor and bachelorette parties, and even a winning journey in the Sydney to Harbour yacht race.
After that, it was time to get down to some serious wedding planning, working with an extensive production team to bring an extravagant vision to life. “They were a godsend!” Terry said. “Our wedding was a dream come true, and it was exactly the way we saw ourselves celebrating our love with our closest family and friends.”
Terry looked simply breathtaking as she walked down the aisle in an exquisite couture gown made by prominent Melbourne design duo, J’Aton.
“I knew I wanted something simple in style, strapless, but dramatic in effect and detail; coming up with the design was daunting because you want it to be the greatest gown of your life that you will love forever,” she said. “The designers poured their love, sweat and tears into every inch of the gown, and literally hand made the embroidered lace fabric. It was a true, one-of-a-kind, custom made couture gown.”
There were plenty of tears as Terry and Anthony exchanged their vows, and the newlyweds were beaming with pure joy when they emerged from St Mary’s Cathedral. “It was a moment of true elation and celebration,” Terry said.
Champagne, signature cocktails and canapés were served prior to an intimate dinner beneath the stars at a private residence, and a spectacular confetti drop marked the couple’s first dance as husband and wife.
Special guest Leo Sayer then got the party started with a set of his well-known hits, and the crowd danced the rest of the night away to a band and DJ.
“Then sadly, it was time to depart with a sparkler farewell, and my bouquet toss, which my two best friends caught,” Terry said. “It was honestly the greatest day of our lives - a surreal experience hard to put into words, but a memory that will last a lifetime!”
