Kristina and Shane's Wedding at Lotus House

After 10 years together, Shane Mackney proposed to Kristina Ingegneri just a few months shy of their anniversary.

“After (at the time) nine years together we made the decision to get married. We were saving it as a surprise announcement for our 10th anniversary, but I couldn’t keep it a secret for that long!” said Kristina.

“We chose not to have seating arrangements at the reception,” said Kristina. “We had round tables, dry bars and pavilions which housed lounge settings. Our guests loved the layout!”

“My mother made 30-odd throw pillows from mismatched vintage styled materials for the lounges to blend the theme and on the tables we had large arrangements of fresh flowers, a smaller arrangement of silk flowers and candles.”

Kristina also chose a groom’s cake, having a gold lion carved from chocolate atop a small mud cake, also painted gold. “Shane’s star sign is Leo and lions are his favourite animal,” revealed Kristina.

“My gown took 12 months to find,” said Kristina. “As soon as I saw it I knew it was the one, even though it was nothing like what I was looking for. The gown was a big commitment on my part.  As it was a couture gown I had to make four trips in five months to Sydney from Queensland for my fittings.”

“I wore my mother-in-law’s mother’s engagement ring for my ‘something borrowed’, and my grandmother’s first wedding anniversary eternity ring as my ‘something old’. Something ‘new’ was the gown and something blue was my garter,” said Kristina.
