Wedding Style

  • We have an architectural theme of 45degree gable roofs, earth brick, and corrugated iron walls and extensive use of hardwood timber outside and inside that was milled on the property and much timber paneling inside. Our standard beds are all kings that can be unzipped to singles and our extra beds are either queen sofa beds or foldup beech slat singles with 150mm mattresses. We provide all linen on beds made up of the configuration requested.

  • Tariffs

Our tariffs are cheaper Sun-Thurs and cheapest in winter. Summer peak tariffs are our most expensive. Our event tariff is made up of a daily fixed charge for function area access, a charge per guest attending the reception, an accommodation charge per person per night (min 2), and a refundable bond.   There are no extras except for optional hexadome marquee hire.  Ask us for a quote, arrange an inspection.

  

WEDDING PACKAGE 1: Cockatoo Function Room and Hexadome Marquee

  • For 60 to 120 guests seated or up to 150 cocktail style and Accommodation for 45 guests.

  • Access to Cockatoo Function Room its verandas and breezeway.

  • Use of 175sqm Hexadome marquee with 3 clear, 3 opaque removable sides and lighting truss.

  • Use of fully equipped caterer's kitchen and tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery, and glassware

 

WEDDING PACKAGE 2: Kookaburra Cottage

  • For 35 guests and accommodation for 12 guests

  • Exclusive use of the Kookaburra Cottage

Our aim is to give you the space and freedom to create your own unique wedding ceremony venue or any events.

Bawley Bush Retreat offers Whole-of-Property private hire for a minimum of 2 nights for wedding celebrations for up to 120 guests and on-site accommodation up to 35. There is plenty of overflow accommodation nearby in caravan parks, holiday houses, and cottages. Our stunning inside/outside venue options are located within a beautiful NSW south coast forest environment adjacent to and overlooking a coastal lake. We have to offer great photographic backdrops. Our function rooms and cottages are beautiful, purpose-built, and eco friendly. Our outside areas feature ceremonial and marquee spaces on large lawns that sweep down to the lake. 


We are a 36-acre mainly forested DIY venue: the entire property becomes your exclusive-access celebration destination; you create and arrange your own decorations wherever you want; organize your own providers (eg: caterers to use our huge catering kitchen including its serving ware for up to 120, its refrigerators, food trucks if you want, your own marquee if you don't want ours), etc, etc. You set up our furniture how you like or, if you prefer, hire it in from a third party. We expect our property and equipment to be left as you found it with everything put away clean where found. A standard hotel function area and accommodation clean and rubbish removal are included in our tariff..


While we do have regulation-imposed music volume restrictions outdoors (ask about it) there are none in our function room beyond asking you to tone it down after 11 pm. Our under-cover function areas consist of 

  • beautiful 100sqm function room with rising stage and full PA system

  • large verandas

  • huge registered catering kitchen

  • adjacent 75sqm lounge area

  • private green room for event principals to get ready in or to escape to

  • optional 175sqm marquee

 

Outdoors we offer

  • powered spaces for food trucks and/or drink vans

  • plenty of lawn space for ceremony, dance floor, or games. 

  • Lakeside and bushwalk.

  • kayaks you can borrow to paddle on the lake or to the beach

 

Our cottages have 1-4 bedrooms with lounge spaces available for accommodation. Events typically use the catering kitchen and adjacent lounge for group socializing before and after wedding events rather than our cottages.We are registered as a Covid safe venue but, while Covid restrictions last, our wedding numbers will be limited to fewer than mentioned above. We also require all event principals to develop their own NSW-compliant Covid safe plans for their group and lodge them with us. It's not hard, ask us for guidance. Your wedding could well be visited by local wildlife.
