If you’ve ever questioned the existence of fate, then Kate Farley and Timothy Stuart may give you pause for thought. The day after the couple met, Kate’s best friend declared Tim was the man Kate would one day marry.  

They did just that three years later, tying the knot at Sails Restaurant Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. The couple planned their destination wedding while living in the US and so enlisted the help of event planner Kim Eibrink Jansen from Events of Noosa. 

“Sails was decorated just as we had imagined. The mirrored centrepieces were filled with a mixture of white flowers and scented candles reflected the feature ceiling lights to create a sparkle in the room as the sun went down,” said Kate. 

“We also set up a large candy buffet. We imported endless amounts of American chocolates and candy to enjoy on the night, which were a huge hit. Our family and friends also gathered around the kitchen the day before the wedding to help make chocolate truffles for the candy bar, which were very delicious.”

Guests were given a candy box each to take home, personalised with the couple’s wedding logo and a note saying ‘Take Me Home Sweetie’. “We loved seeing our guests walking down Hastings Street after the wedding swinging the candy boxes from their hands.”   

Kate wore a strapless princess cut couture gown, and made the unique choice to have her bridesmaids also in white. “I knew from day one of being engaged that I really wanted the bridesmaids to wear white, especially as it was a beach wedding.”  

As a sentimental touch, Kate had her mother sew two squares of fabric into her dress.  “Both my grandmothers gave me a piece of blue from their own wedding gowns to sew into mine. It was such a touching moment knowing that that they close to me on the day.”
